The Sacrifices of being an Athlete.
I’ve decided something. This summer, I’m going to do my training, daily, racewalking/running/abs/arms/legs strengthening/flexibility all. I’m going to put nothing but healthy stuff in my body. No junk food. No fattening stuff. Nothing that makes me get cravings for fattening stuff.
It’s time I reverted to doing what I did three years ago before I got hurt. I’m through with making excuses, I’m through with half-assing my training and then making excuses for doing so. I’m through with succumbing to laziness and fear. I’m through with ignoring what I’ve always known- to be the best athlete you can be, you HAVE TO MAKE SACRIFICES. As it goes, “this is 10% luck, 20% skill, 15% concentrated power of will, 5% pleasure, 50% pain, and 100% reason to remember the name.” I’ve only got 20% (though this year’s races more like 30%) going right now, I need to get to that 100%!
To be the best athlete you can be, you have to make sacrifices…. I’ve always known that. I was a fool to let myself ignore it so long.
